I’m asking writers, artists, musicians, farmers, philosophers, financial planners, architects, doctors, politicians, bankers, engineers, etc. if there’s one quote in particular that has shaped the way they think about something. It can be from any source, on any topic. Today’s quote comes from Carl Richards, a financial planner at Prasada Capital Management. He also runs the website Behavior Gap, which explores “the relationship between money and values.”

My investment philosophy and really my life has always been about trying to simplify and I have always loved this quote:
“Perfection is finally attained not when there is no longer anything to add, but when there is no longer anything to take away.”
—Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Wind, Sand and Stars (New York: Harcourt Brace, 1992), 42.
