Wellington Wimpy, known as Wimpy, is one of the characters in the comic strip Popeye, originally called Thimble Theatre. According to The Yale Book of Quotations, an earlier version of this line (“Cook me up a hamburger. I’ll pay you Thursday.”) appeared in the strip on June 21, 1931.
